JAMAL MOHAMED COLLEGE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION (SINGAPORE CHAPTER) has been registered with and approved by the Singapore Registry of Societies and published in Singapore Government Gazette on 22 November 2010. It was officially inaugurated in Singapore on 30 January 2011 by the Mentor of the Singapore Chapter, Alhaj S. Mohamed Abdul Jaleel, PBM (Entrepreneur, Philanthropist and Managing Director of The MES Group of Companies). ‘JAMALIANS MEET’ was organised with Buffet Lunch Networking on the same day. Nearly 150 Jamalians in Singapore attended this Event. The Management Committee of our Singapore Chapter consisting of 20 Office Bearers was inducted in the Official Inauguration Ceremony on 30 January 2011.

As detailed in the Constitution, the main Objectives of our Singapore Chapter are to Work Together as ‘’One United Family of Jamalians” and to provide Educational, Social and Community Services. Our Singapore Chapter does not collect any Entrance Fee, Annual Subscription or Membership Fee to become a Member. The activities of our Association are funded by the Voluntary Contribution from members. To date, we have 320 members in Singapore Chapter and we are in the continuous process of strengthening our membership by identifying the Jamalians living and working in Singapore. It is estimated that more than 500 Jamalians are living and working in Singapore and we expect more Jamalians will be joining our Singapore Chapter in the days to come.

We conducted a Free Seminar on ‘How to help your Children to score Better Grades in Mathematics?’ on 13 February 2011 by our Committee Member & Former Lecturer of our College, Mr P M A Amanullah. Nearly 100 Parents including Jamalians and the Public were benefited from this Free Mathematics Seminar. We trained the Parents to train their Children to score Better Grades in Mathematics. During the Seminar, we honoured our Chief Guest Mr Mohamed Jamal, the Entrepreneur and Chief Executive Officer of JAMAL KAZURA AROMATICS (SINGAPORE) by presenting the ‘Social Service Award’ in recognition of his exemplary Social Services.

We made arrangements for a Special Lecture on “Recent Trends in Life Science and Biomedical Research” by our Committee Member, Dr S Thameem Dheen, Associate Professor, Department of Anatomy, National University of Singapore on 18 February 2011 at JMC Campus.

Another Free Seminar on ‘Basic Accounting & Finance for Non-Finance Professionals’ was conducted on 27 March 2011 by Mr Mohiadeen Abdul Kader, Chartered Accountant & President of our Singapore Chapter and nearly 100 Professionals including Jamalians and the Public were benefitted. We honoured our Chief Guest Janab T.M. HAJI BADRUDEEN (Chairman of TEEYEM GROUP OF COMPANIES, BRUNEI) by presenting the “Social Service Award’’ in recognition of his commendable Social Services. Certificate of Attendance was awarded by the Management Committee Members of our College to all the Participants of Accounting Seminar in the Diamond Jubilee Event held on 2 May 2011.

Our Singapore Chapter conducted “Opinion Contest” for the wives of Jamalians. Three Best Opinions were chosen. Prizes and Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to the Winners in our Diamond Jubilee Event in Singapore, by the Distinguished Members of our College Management Committee.

To celebrate the 60 years of Higher Educational Service and Achievements of our Alma Mater, we conducted JMC DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATION in Singapore on 2 May 2011. Our College Management Committee Members, Janab A K Khaja Nazeemudeen Sahib (Secretary & Correspondent), Hajee M J M Abdul Gafoor Sahib (Former Secretary & Correspondent), Hajee M J Jamal Mohamed Sahib (Assistant Secretary) and Hajee Dr M Sheik Mohamed (Principal of Jamal Mohamed College & Director of Jamal Institute of Management) were the Guests of Honour and the ‘Distinguished Educationist Awards’ were presented to them. Nearly 350 to 400 people including Jamalians, Well-wishers and Patrons of our Singapore Chapter attended our Diamond Jubilee Event and its Special Feast.

Reputed Community Leaders of Singapore including Mr T Raja Segar (Chief Executive Officer, Singapore Indian Development Association), Alhaj S Mohamed Abdul Jaleel (Managing Director, The MES Group of Companies), Mr R Narayanamohan, CPA (Chairman, Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry) and ‘Naavarasar’ Mr R Kalamohan (Advocate & Solicitor of Singapore Supreme Court and the President of The Society of Kalai Pithers who is also the Legal Adviser of our Singapore Chapter) delivered Felicitation Address.

A Special Song in appreciation of our College was written by Prof. Dr Nagore Rumi (former Student of our College who received the Distinguished Alumnus Award on 26 January 2011) was dedicated to our College in the Diamond Jubilee Celebration in Singapore held very successfully on 2 May 2011. All our Events and Activities were published in ‘TAMIL MURASU’, a Singapore Daily.

We organised a Special Event entitled “MEET OUR NEXT PRINCIPAL” on 15 May 2011 at Masjid Bencoolen Multi-purpose Hall. Associate Professor, Dr R Khader Mohideen, the Principal of our College was the Guest of Honour and he addressed the gathering of Jamalians. Our Singapore Chapter presented ‘Distinguished Educationist Award’ to him in recognition of his Educational Services.

We collected Used Clothes from Jamalians and donated them to the needy inmates at “Jamiyah Home for the Aged” on 24 July 2011.

Iftar Gathering of Jamalians was organised at Masjid Bencoolen on 13 August 2011. His Excellency, Mr M N Swami, Hon. Consul General of Nepal was the Guest of Honour.

We made arrangement for a Special Lecture on “Enhancement of Employability” by Mr L M Mohamed Ismail at JMC Campus on 23 June 2011. Our Committee Member, Mr P M A Amanullah conducted Special Lectures on “Career Guidance” and “Top Ten Skills to be developed for Employment in Management Cadre” at JMC Campus on 9 September 2011.

We organised a Free Seminar on “Effective Communication Skills” on 18 September 2011. Mr Haja Zafarullah, Principal Training Facilitator of Team Vision Life Skills Development, presented the Seminar and Mr M Harikrishnan, the President of Tamil Language & Cultural Society was the Chief Guest.

Our Vice President, Mr Mohamed Jinna presented Special Lectures on “Today’s IT Market – Planning your Career” and “Halal and You” at JMC Campus on 2 December 2011. On the same day, our Assistant Treasurer, Mr Kalander Mohideen delivered a Special Lecture on “Right Mindset” at JMC Campus.

Year 2012

We started this eventful year 2012 by conducting a Free Seminar on “Achieving Personal Excellence” on 29 January 2012 by our Member Mr Abdul Kareem, a Lecturer & Resource Person in Human Resource Management. Many Members including Public attended and benefitted from this Free Seminar.

In collaboration with Singapore Indian Development Association (SINDA), we conducted a Joint Project/Free Workshop for Parents on “How to help your children to score better in Mathematics?” on 19 February 2012 by our Committee Member, Mr P M A Amanullah, a Lecturer in Mathematics. Many Parents attended and benefitted from this Free Workshop.

On 22 April 2012, we conducted a Free Seminar on Entrepreneurship: “Doing Business in Singapore” by Mr R Narayanamohan, CPA, Chairman of Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) at SINDA Auditorium. Mr Rajakumara Chandara, the President of Little India Shoppers and Heritage Association (LISHA) was the Guest of Honour. Many Participants including Public attended and benefitted from this Free Seminar.

A Dialogue Session with Associate Professor Dr T Abdul Razak, Ph.D., from Department of Computer Science, Jamal Mohamed College was organized on 5 May 2012 at Alumni Association Office. Many IT Professionals took part in the Dialogue Session and benefitted.

Business Networking Session for Jamalians was organized on 30 June 2012 at Alumni Association Office. Many Jamalians shared their business experiences and many members benefitted from this Business Networking Session.

An Ifthar (Breaking-Fast) Gathering was organised on 4 August 2012 at Masjid Bencoolen. Mr K Shanmugam, Minister for Foreign Affairs & Minister for Law and Member of Parliament for Nee Soon GRC was our Guest of Honour. Associate Professor Dr Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, Parliamentary Secretary and Member of Parliament for Nee Soon GRC was our Special Guest.

On 26 August 2012, Mr Mohamed Jinna delivered a Special Lecture on “MAANAVAN NINAITHAAL” (“மாணவன் நினைத்தால்…!”) at Khajamian Hostel. Mr M Feroz Khan, Certified Public Accountant, conducted a Special Lecture cum Dialogue Session on “KNOWLEDGE FROM EXPERIENCE” (“அனுபவ அறிவு”) at JMC Campus on 27 August 2012.

Mr Mohiadeen Abdul Kader, the President of our Association, delivered a Special Lecture on “OPPORTUNITIES IN SINGAPORE” at JMC Campus on 20 September 2012. For the benefits of MBA students, a Special Lecture on “SECRETS TO SUCCESS” was conducted at Jamal Institute of Management by our member, Mr Abdul Kareem on 24 September 2012.

On 20 October 2012, we organised a “Dialogue Session for IT Professionals” at Eduquest International Institute, Singapore.

Year 2013

With a view to serve our Alma Mater, a Special Lecture on “JOB SKILLS” was delivered by our President, Mr Mohiadeen Abdul Kader at JMC Campus on 13 February 2013 . We conducted a Motivational Workshop for School Students in Singapore at Eduquest International Institute on 17 February 2013, by Ms S Vimala, B.E., Certified Hypnotherapist.

On 17 March 2013, we organised “Jamalians Family Day” at East Coast Park. Mr Rajan Nair, Senior Operations Manager, The Professional Couriers (TPC) Singapore was our Chief Guest.

A Special Lecture cum Health Talk on “Traditional Chinese Medicine and Stress Management” was delivered by Mr Lee Ping Lek, Practising TCM Physician cum Academic Associate, Republic Polytechnic on 7 April 2013 at Mass Education Institute. Mr Aric, the Director of Boston Business School was our Chief Guest.

A Special Ifthar (Breaking-Fast) cum Racial Harmony Event was organised on 20 July 2013 at Masjid Bencoolen Multi Purpose Hall. Mr R Dhinakaran, Nominated Member of Parliament was the Guest of Honour. Prominent Community Leaders, VIPs, Presidents, Secretaries and Members from various Associations and Organisations attended the Event.

Mr S Idris Malim, Director & CEO of Eduquest International Institute Pte Ltd and the Treasurer of our Association presented a Paper on “Human Capital Development – Learning from Singapore Experience” in the International Seminar held in Jamal Mohamed College on 16 August 2013.

Mr R Kalamohan, Advocate & Solicitor and the President of The Society of Kalai Pithers of Singapore conducted a Free Seminar on “Legal Advice for day-to-day Life” (சட்டமும் நீங்களும்) on 22 September 2013. Mr A R Mashuthoo, the General Secretary of Singapore Kadayanallur Muslim League (SKML) was the Chief Guest of the Event.

With a view to encourage Sports Activities, we conducted JMC Alumni Singapore Badminton Tournament 2013 on 19 October 2013 at Singapore Badminton Hall. Mr Mohamed Nazran, the Managing Director of Kazura Industries Pte Ltd was the Guest of Honour.

At SINDA Auditorium, we organised a Free Health Talk on “How far you are away from Heart Attack?” by Dr Jayaram Lingamanaicker, Senior Consultant Cardiologist, on 17 November 2013. Mr Naa. Aandeappan, the President of Singapore Tamil Writers Association, was the Guest of Honour and many participants benefitted from this Free Health Talk on Heart Disease.

Year 2014

With an intention to extend our helping hands for the Business Entities in Singapore, we organised a Free Seminar on “Government Grants” by Mr R Narayanamohan, Senior Partner, Natarajan & Swaminathan (Public Accountants & Chartered Accountants of Singapore) on 19 January 2014 at SINDA Auditorium. Mr M Jahangeer, the President of Money Changers Association (Singapore) was the Guest of Honour. Many Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) benefitted from this Free Seminar on Government Grants.

On 23 March 2014, we organised Jamalians Family Day 2014 at East Coast Park for strengthening Unity and Family Bonding in Singapore. Mr Naseer Ghani JP, the President of Singapore Kadayanallur Muslim League (SKML) graced the Event as our Guest of Honour. Dr Vanaja Kalaichelvan, Senior Consultant (Obstetrics & Gynaecology), National University Hospital Women’s Centre delivered a “Free Health Talk exclusively for Ladies”.

JMC Alumni Singapore Badminton Tournament 2014 was organised on 24 April 2014. Mr Farihullah, the President of Federation of Indian Muslims (FIM) and United Indian Muslim Association (UIMA) was the Guest of Honour and distributed the Trophies to the Winners, Runners and the entire team of players.

On 19 July 2014, our Singapore Chapter organised a Special Ifthar (Breaking-Fast) cum Racial Harmony Event at Masjid Bencoolen. Mr S Iswaran, Minister, Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Ministry of Home Affairs and Trade & Industry was the Guest of Honour. Mr S M Abdul Jaleel, Chairman of Masjid Bencoolen and CEO of The MES Group honoured our Minister with a Shawl. Many Community Leaders from various Associations and Prominent VIPs have attended the Event.

On 3 August 2014, we conducted our Former Principal “Perumpulavar” DR C NAINAR MOHAMED MEMORIAL EVENT at Masjid Bencoolen Multi-purpose Hall. Mr J M Sali, Senior Writer, Dr Himana Syed, Mr M A Mashuthoo and many other Community Leaders took part in the Event.

Mr Habibullah Noor Mohamed, our Committee Member and Managing Director of Mass Education Institute, Singapore has conducted a “Dialogue Session on Multi-tasking Skills” for BBA Students at JMC Campus on 14 August 2014.

On 28 September 2014, we organised a Free Health Talk on DIABETES by Dr S K Abdul Shakoor, Consultant, Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Mr K Barathan, the Chief Executive Officer of Singapore Indian Development Association (SINDA) was the Guest of Honour. Haji Hassan Kuthus, the President of Singapore Tenkasi Muslim Welfare Society and Mr K P Mohamed Jaafar, the Secretary of Singapore Tenkasi Muslim Welfare Society were Special Guests. Many people from the Public attended and benefitted from this Free Health Talk.

On 11 October 2014, the Faculty of Tamil Research Department of Jamal Mohamed College and Jamal Mohamed College Alumni Association (Singapore Chapter) jointly organised a “National Seminar on Creative Literature” at JMC Campus. More than 300 students from various Colleges in Trichy participated in the Morning Session and 1000 over female students participated in the Afternoon Session. Prominent Writers Mr Manushyaputhiran, Mr Abilash Chandran (Sahitya Academy Award Winner 2014), and our Committee Member Singapore Writer Mr Shanavas delivered their Speech and Intellectual Thoughts for the Development of Tamil Literature.

Year 2015

With a view to strengthen Family Bonding, Unity and Harmony, we organised “Jamalians Family Day 2015” on 15 March 2015 at East Coast Park. We conducted many Competitions and Activities for Adults and Students.

To make our Contributions for the development of Tamil Language and Literature in Singapore as part of TAMIL LANGUAGE FESTIVAL 2015, we organised a Tamil Language Event entitled “Kavignar MU METHAvin NATCHATHTHIRA JANNALIL” (கவிஞர் மு. மேத்தாவின் “நட்சத்திர ஜன்னலில்”) with the support of Tamil Language Council on 18 April 2015 at Umar Pulavar Tamil Language Centre Auditorium, 2 Beatty Road, Singapore. Mr K Karthigeyan, Nominated Member of Parliament, was the Guest of Honour. The famous Poet and Lyricist, Kavignar MU METHA was the Main Speaker. About 350 to 400 Tamil Scholars, Community Leaders, Teachers, Housewives and Students attended and benefitted from this Tamil Language Event. This Event was conducted with very high professional standards.

With a view to promote Healthy Lifestyle and to give importance to Sports Activities in Singapore, we organised “JMC Alumni Badminton Tournament 2015” on 9 May 2015 at Pek Kio Community Centre. 38 Badminton Players took part in the Event. Dr K M Jainlavdin, President of Thopputhurai Muslim Association (Singapore) and Deputy President of Federation of Indian Muslims (FIM) was the Guest of Honour for the Event. The Winners and Runners were awarded with the Trophies and all the Players were honoured with Prizes and Certificates.

On 27 June 2015 , we organised Special Ifthar (Breaking-Fast) cum Racial Harmony Event at Masjid Bencoolen Multi-purpose Hall. Mr Lawrence Wong, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Second Minister for Communications and Information graced the Event as our Guest of Honour. We donated New Clothing to 68 needy children residing at Jamiyah Children’s Home.

We extended our Financial Support to Tamil Digital Heritage Project on 22 August 2015 and received a Token of Appreciation from Mr S Iswaran, Minister, Prime Minister’s Office .

Felicitation to Mr Abdul Rahman , former General Secretary of Jamal Mohamed College Alumni Association (UAE) Chapter) was given on 2 October 2015 .

On 17 October 2015 , we jointly organised Muslim Youth Seminar with Jamiyah Singapore, Singapore Kadayanallur Muslim League and Indian Muslim Professionals in cooperation with the Federation of Indian Muslims for Cultivating a Culture of Peace in Singapore. Mr Amrin Amin, Member of Parliament and Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs graced the Event as our Guest of Honour.

The journey of Singapore Chapter continues with the Grace of God, the Almighty.
